The PSPA strives to assist PAs and students in all areas of practice improve their skills. To that end, we are happy to promote the First Annual Comprehensive Review of Psychiatry. This program is an engaging, intensive CME course focusing on behavioral health and psychiatric disorders. It will include an in-depth review of treatment and management considerations for PAs whose practice requires an understanding of frequently seen mental health/behavior management conditions. Specifically, this CME event will appeal to family medicine PAs who are in need of a broader understanding of the practice of psychiatry.
Experienced PAs in psychiatry will be updated with the latest practice paradigms and learn new treatment approaches and strategies for the treatment and management of patients with mental illness.
There will also be the opportunity to attend a workshop on Practical Interpersonal Psychotherapy. This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the theory and practice of Interpersonal Counseling (IPC), an abbreviated form of Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). IPT is an empirically tested brief psychotherapy. IPC has demonstrated effectiveness in primary care settings and was developed for professionals who have not had formal psychotherapy training.
