Committee Information

Becoming a leader within the PSPA opens doors to networking while impacting our professional and personal lives.  There are many levels of leadership opportunities, some that require as little as one hour a month.

One of the best ways to become a leader in your profession is to join a PSPA committee.  If you are ready to start making those connections, building a stronger profession, and reaching out to the community, not to mention bettering our patients’ lives, please join a committee!

Below are the current PSPA committees with a basic description. There are often ad hoc committees that are formed on an as needed basis. Don’t find one that fits? Email pspa@pspa.net with your interests or skills and we’ll find you!

AAPA HOUSE OF DELEGATES
Elected delegates represent Pennsylvania in the AAPA House of Delegates and play a significant role in shaping AAPA’s mission and vision as a policymaking body of the Academy.

AWARDS COMMITTEE
Publicizes and selects awards available to PAs and PA students.

CONFERENCE PLANNING COMMITTEE
Assists with the annual CME meeting including topic and speaker selection, location, and special events.  Coordinates corporate support.

ELECTION COMMITTEE
Solicit candidates and supervise the annual election of officers and board members.

EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE
Identify and improve weaknesses in the PAs ability to find suitable employment and just compensation in the state.

FINANCE COMMITTEE
Responsible for overseeing the budget and distributing funds to various committees and projects.

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Directs the Society’s efforts for legislative and regulatory change.  Protects our ability to practice medicine in Pennsylvania.

HISTORY COMMITTEE
Compile and maintain a historical perspective of the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants.

LEADERSHIP & MENTORING COMMITTEE
To develop and maintain the leadership potential of past, current and future leaders within the PSPA as well as establish a mentoring program for new or potential leaders.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Recruit and retain PA fellow and student members.  Helps determine what member benefits the Society should offer.

NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE
Solicit content, contribute articles, assist with design and publication of newsletter.

POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE
Promoting awareness of the profession among legislators and protecting our ability to practice.

PUBLIC RELATIONS & EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Responsible for educating the public and other health care professionals about the role of PAs in the health care system.

REGIONAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Plans regional medical education meetings and events. Distributes PSPA related information to regional members.

REIMBURSEMENT COMMITTEE
Encourage positive changes with reimbursement for services provided by PAs and serve as a resource on reimbursement issues for PSPA members.

SOCIAL MEDIA
Create a comprehensive PSPA social media strategy to define programs that use social media marketing techniques to increase visability, membership and traffic across all programs

STANDING RULES & POLICY COMMITTEE
The Standing Rules and Policy Committee reviews on a regular basis, the PSPA Bylaws and the Policy and Procedure Manual of the Society and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for revisions as necessary.

STUDENT AND FACULTY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Promote scholarships, research and educational activities.  Coordinate flow of information and resources between PA programs.  Answers common questions for graduation students planning on practicing in Pennsylvania, and eases general transition to clinical practice.

To develop user-friendly interface that is accessible to all members.
