19th ANNUAL PAC SILENT AUCTION AND RECEPTION
The Silent Auction will be held on October 18, 2018 at 7 PM in conjunction with the PSPA Annual Conference. There will be dancing – put on your dancing shoes! This event gives us a chance to catch up with friends and colleagues. Beautiful donated items will be on display for you to bid on. There is something for everyone!
Our Silent Auction benefits the Pennsylvania Physician Assistant Political Action Committee. Would you like to donate an item for the auction? Contact Cara Bennett at email@example.com or Marcy Herzog at firstname.lastname@example.org. Click here for more information.
FRIDAY NIGHT – STUDENT MEDICAL CHALLENGE BOWL
One tradition of the PSPA Conference is the excitement of the Student Challenge Bowl. Competition between the PA schools spills over to the audience. Gather four of your fellow students, make a team and encourage your friends, family and faculty to come cheer you on. Registered teams must participate in the Host City Charity Contest. Contact Natalie Schwer to register your team at email@example.com or print the registration form and fax to 724-836-4449. Click here for more information.
Attention ALL Students: Admission tickets for parents will be given to Challenge Bowl participants by their program directors. Parents attending only the Challenge Bowl should not be registered online as guests or they will be charged the guest fee of $15. These complimentary tickets are non-transferable.
POSTER PRESENTATION – IN THE EXHIBIT HALL
We would like to invite practicing PAs, students, and PA Faculty to participate in a poster presentation. All submissions must include a PSPA membership number. Participants must be available to answer questions regarding their work during exhibit hall hours. If you are interested, submit an abstract of 500 words or less to Mary Allias MPAS, PA-C at firstname.lastname@example.org by August 1, 2018. For more information on Poster Submission Guidelines click here.
17TH ANNUAL PSPA FUN RUN AND WALK
Get moving and have some fun! This year’s fun run will be held Friday morning. Runners and walkers will meet in the lobby at 7:00 am. The first 25 participants to register will receive a commemorative t-shirt. The entry fee is $15. Use the conference registration form to hold your spot.
If you are currently a PA student, you do not want to miss this event! With separate tracks for first year and second year students (we know you have different needs!), everyone can gain valuable information for their future in the PA profession. These sessions will give participants a chance to learn from some of the best practicing PAs and “pick their brains” on a variety of topics. Whether you’re preparing to go out on rotations or preparing to take your boards and practice “real medicine,” there’s something for everyone!
This year’s faculty forum will focus on two of the challenges current PA faculties face in PA education.
PSPA HOST CITY CHARITY
The PSPA contact for the Host City Charity is Heather Shevchik-O’Brien, PA-C, at email@example.com.
The Domestic Violence Service Center of Wilkes Barre PA has been selected as the PSPA host city charity for 2018.
DVSC can also help by providing 24-hour hotlines, safety planning, options counseling that provides information and support to help victims decide what they want to do, support groups, and assistance in filing Protection from Abuse Orders. DVSC offers victims and their children a place where they can be safe, a respite from abuse, a place where they can heal, a place where they can put their lives back in order and plan for a brighter and violence-free future. We want victims of domestic violence to know they are not alone. At DVSC, there is always someone you can talk to.
We serve the counties of Luzerne and Carbon. Our mission is to work toward the elimination of domestic violence.
We are here for you 24-hours a day, every day of the year. When an individual calls we will not ask their name, but we will offer them the help they need at no cost. Depending on their personal situation, the trained staff at the Domestic Violence Service Center can support them in many ways. Our services are free and confidential.
For those who are being physically or emotionally abused, we are able to provide the victim with a safe and comfortable place where they can go immediately. Our confidential and secure shelter will allow them to escape and protect themselves and their children from further abuse.
DVSC is the path to safety and a shelter from abuse.
